Typeface Diary

Typeface? Diary? I don't even need to see it to know I'm going to love it. But guess what, I saw it, and it is wonderful. The 2010 Typeface Diary for Design Students was created by Rosalind Stoughton for her class at Leeds. The purpose of the project was to create a product that would help first-year design students manage their first year better. On her Behance page, it reads:
The diary introduces one typeface every day, including a brief history of the typeface and a piece of design that features it. The idea was to keep students inspired every day, while helping them to manage their time efficiently. It is aided by a space to sketch out ideas, and a checklist of things to complete each day in order to stay on top of the workload.
Plus, it is really nice looking.

I think if this were ever mass-produced, the binding would need to be a little more sturdy. I imagine design students would throw this in their bag to carry around at all times and I'm not sure this binding would survive. The wood covers are beautiful though.

ps. the first preview page features work by one of my favorite artists/designers/tumblrs: Peter of wordboner.com. Sooo good.
